Default Just how much

If there is a thread already on the subject then I apologise but guru search is so bad I could never find my own threads

Anyway the question is
How much is a lot of money?

I recently read a thread about high end bids ending up in 4000ectos on that thread there was one person who shall remain nameless who claimed that 1750 ectos is not a lot of money......

So i was wondering because people like to boast about how much money they all have how about boasting here instead. And at the same time you can answer my question

Have fun posting

I depends on how rich individual players are as to their preception.

Personal example:

Saving for Deldriomor armor "40k is massive! that is a lot of money."

After Fow armor "Im poor, only 40k left"

I agree with the perception thing. I used to think 20k was a lot of gold (though, when I first started, it was); now, I think you're pretty well off if you have between 500k and 1000k. I don't think the majority of people who play GW have much more than that (if that). But then you have those who can spend hours upon hours accumulating mass amounts of ectos or armbraces. I'm not one of them. :P

I currently have 200K in storage. That's the most since a while.

I spend all Zaishen Keys (R3 Zaishen) on myself and keep almost all valuable weapons myself. I spend a lot of gold on my GWAMM (which I maxed December 07).

I can't say I'm poor, I just don't see any reason in saving money in a computergame thus I spend it all.

AAAAAAH I hit backspace on Firefox and my text got erased. Blah. In short:

100k's my comfort zone, has been for years now.

I had 1000k in storage plus ectos a little over a week back, I felt pretty rich - nothing compared to the people with stacks and stacks of ectos. But I could finally shop in the high-end items without having to worry for cash!

And now? 112k, 44 ectos... by my standards I'd have enough cash. But I'm currently aiming for titles so that's not a lot. Anyways, money's easy to get so I give myself about 2 weeks of slow farming...

EDIT: To be a little more on-topic, I feel like 100k's still a lot of money, keeping in mind a lot of people never seen that amount and some people will never. Even after getting 1000k I still feel like 100k's a lot... lol.

it depends on whether or not your working on titles. Im working on grinding titles right now, so I have about 95k and thats good. Once I start working on the minis and the armor title 95 k wont but a dent into what i need. Whatever makes you feel comfortable staring at in your storage is as much as you need.

Do not feel you have to earn a certain amount of money or even compare yourself to people who have played the game far too much for far too long.
If you find something you really want, consider what it will take you to get it, if it seems a fair trade of your ingame time - go for it. If not - don't!

To all of you holier-than-thou folks with your epeen comments - STOP IT. There's nothing wrong (and certainly nothing epeen-ish) with wondering just how much wealth is actually out there! And to all the 'money doesn't buy you skill' comments ... WT freaking F does that have to do with the OP?????? Mods can you clean up?

***

OP: I'm kinda curious too. Just how rich ARE the ultra rich? I know there are ecto farmers that gathered ectos in the thousands - and arbrace farmers that have (non-duped) stacks ... so I think that there are many 100million+ in assets people. But I don't know how many ... it'd be interesting to get an idea....

***

One other thing .. to all of you posting your "I currently have 100k" or "I just hit 200k" comments ... that's really interesting and all but has nothing to do with this topic. I think I am safe in saying that if you have less than 10 million in money+ecto then you do not have alot of money and thus are not answering the OP at all... I kinda like this topic - does it really have to be cluttered with 98% off-topic posts?

Always felt kinda wealthy with what I had, and that's definetly less than 30, 50 or even 100mill. However I don't know many people who have 100mill+ in cash (tbh I don't know anyone who I can be sure of him having that much), but maybe that's just because they never buy/sell anything.

For the general player, over 100k is in the realms of 'more than you'll need'. For those slightly more focused, it will really depend on how you play. A powertrader will have a different definition than someone who quests and explores, and I don't think judging what constitutes a lot of money on the same scale is fair.

Actually the OP simply asked How much is a lot of money.

This is a very relative question as the term a lot is a subjective term rather then a objective term. Since there is not hard and fast value to a lot 200K may be a lot to some players. To me 500K was a lot until I hit it big. Now I have 500e + 500K so to me that is a lot. I can buy anything I 'need' at this point along with many things I don't.

to me, in any MMO, a lot of cash is enough to get nice stuff for every class in the game, and max those classes skill-wise. lets do the math...

-10 classes
-about 50-100k to get all the tomes and stuff per class (after spending hero pts)
-another 20k for the "good" elites
-and weapons...lets say you want to spend 20k on weapon sets for each class, and 200k for very nice stuff for your main
-armor...elite armor for each class is about 65k per...and one set of FoW for your main
-another 20k to rune it up

comes to roughly 3000 platinum (assuming i used the calculator right)

thanks to new advances in permaform sins, this can be farmed in about 2-3weeks according to the farming threads

One thing to understand, first off, is that a game like GW (or any RPG) has to have it's "economy" based somewhat around the average amount of playing time that people have available. This, of course, means that some people who have a lot of time to spend on the game will be able to accumulate much more wealth than those who only play an average amount.

I would say that, for the average player, something between 100k and 500k is a lot of money. For those who play more often, the sky's the limit.

I would a agree that asking how much is a lot and stating how much you've got is not necessarily "e-peen". The people who whine about e-peen are usually just jealous.
I mean, seriously folks, it's just play money. It means nothing in the real world. Anyone who thinks they should brag about how much play money they have, is just fooling them selves (and looking a bit foolish).

I'm the same way, except I'm starting to have trouble spending it.
For the sake of those who are concerned about e-peen, I won't say how much I've got. Just that it's a lot, but not a huge amount, because I spend it.
